Suffolk Archers, Inc., is a not for profit organization owning 20 plus acres of woodland at 86 Pidgeon Hill Road, Huntington Station, New York.
The Club was first formed in 1954 and for the first eight years was located in various sites. In 1962 the Club then purchased the land that is now used for the range. We constructed and maintain a 28-Target Field course and various other facilities that provide for the needs of any type of archer (novice, target, tournament or hunter) as well as family groups.
The facility has practice areas with target butts from 10 yards to 80 yards a 28 Target NFAA sanctioned Field course and a 28 Target Knock-A-Block course. The courses are available to members for practice 7 days a week all year long. During the year we schedule more than 12 tournaments including three 3-D tournaments, a Traditional Shoot, and several other novelty shoots all geared to the archer and his/her family.
For the novice archer who might feel out of place with the veteran we conduct all tournaments under the divisions of freestyle, bare bow and bowhunter. These divisions are subdivided into groups of classes. Thus all competitors shoot in their own classes. Several of our club members are NFAA approved and National Bowhunter Education instructors.
For the member interested in hunting we provide the opportunity to practice throughout the year in our hunter class tournaments with unmarked yardages. The animal faces and terrain provide an excellent setting to prepare for the hunting season.
